FISHING

For those who enjoy fishing as much as hunting, there is great fun for all just off our coast in the Indian Ocean. Take a day off from hunting and travel a mere 45 minutes from Base Camp to Kenton on Sea. From Kenton, you will experience a beach launch, an exhilarating run through the breakers and a day of fishing sensation.

We offer both bottom fishing and deep sea trolling giving the angler the option of fishing along our rugged coast or traveling out to the warm Mozambican current. While bottom fishing, anglers will mostly target; Cape Salmon, Red Roman, Scotchman, Cape Stump nose, Sand Fish, Cob and Black Mussel Cracker.

On weather permitting days, trips to the Islands in search of Yellow Tail Tuna for a day of trolling is a must. May thru July is the best time for Yellow Fin Tuna, and August thru October, the best for Yellow Tail Tuna. Anglers can expect bottom fishing to be good throughout the year.

All fishing trips are specialized and must always be booked well in advance to ensure availability and maximum opportunity for success.

What People Are Saying

Thanks John X Safaris my 5th hunt with you. It's always a pleasure with the camaraderie. Fantastic hunting. Both at Glen Harry and on the coast. Fantastic food. We had the hunt of a lifetime.

"Our 2014 reunion tour was much more than I dreamed of. The John X team members all went way above their positions to make me feel like family. From the quality of trophies harvested, the fantastic meals, and great accommodations to the camaraderie in the evenings, everything was perfect. A very special thank you to my PH, Stix, his patience and encouragement in helping me harvest extremely nice mature trophies will never be forgotten."

"We cannot thank John X Safaris and the amazing staff enough for our wonderful family vacation. Each of us had exactly the experience that we had hoped for and as a family we will remember our trip as an all-time favorite!"

"Thanks to all John X people for a great and successful first time Safari."

~ Brian Nelson '13 from USA

"If you have already been on a safari, you have come to know that it is more than the hunt … much more! On our sixth safari, we had the good fortune to share John X Safaris with our two best friends who were on their first safari. And what a safari experience it turned out to be. Everything from riding
elephants, to fishing, to hunting waterfowl. The highlight of our experience was being able to take a magnificent Blue Duiker from a ground blind. John X Safaris slogan is “Going the Distance” … and they never cease to amaze us … creating a safari experience that is unmatched anywhere."

"I did my first hunt with John X Safaris in 2010 and had a wonderful time. After returning home I started planning my next safari for 2011. Some of my friends from Scandinavia wanted to join for my return trip, making our group 16. We hunted from the Coastal and Northern areas, hunting a variety of plains game. I was after the rest of the spirals and was lucky to bag a fantastic Eland up in the Karoo.

After returning to the coast I hunted a big Bushbuck and Nyala. My Nyala was my favourite, after a long day we finally got a fantastic Nyala, thanks to Carl. This is a day I will remember for the rest of my life, thank you my friend. A big thanks to Carl, Gary and your families. The staff at the camps went out of their way to produce fantastic service.

We will be back for another Scandinavian Invasion of the East Cape."
