SOUTH AFRICAN SAFARIS

Hunting - South Africa

South Africa is one of the most exciting countries in the world to hunt. It offers a diverse combination of landscapes, vegetation, and wildlife, together making this country a unique hunting destination for the first time hunter to Africa.

The Malaria Free Eastern Cape offers the finest hunting in the country with over forty different species available to hunt. This is more than anywhere else in Africa.

We exclusively hunt on a wide range of terrain that spans vast semi-arid desert, dense coastal bush, mountains and open savannah. We have access to over 3 million acres of privately owned land and game reserves, including over 700,000 acres of free range areas, bearing forth the high standard in trophy quality.

With over forty different species available to our hunters, and many occurring in a variety of habitats, we have found the need to establish camps within selected areas. This often allows our hunters to enjoy more than one area on the same safari, while ensuring we achieve the very best in trophy quality.

Our Coastal Area is our base. Camp is situated a mere two hour drive from Port Elizabeth, making for comfortable arrival and departure days. Our Northern Area is situated in the Great Karoo, with camps ideally situated for mountain and plains hunting.

Our camps vary from comfortable safari-style homes to small and personal rustic camps in the north, with luxurious lodging on our family owned exclusive Game Reserve in the south. You can look forward to being spoiled, the African way, and enjoy some of the best local cooking South Africa has to offer.

While hunting South Africa you are not limited by hunting seasons, but we prefer our season runs from early March through late October. During these months the Eastern Cape boasts a moderate climate, making for comfortable hunting conditions. This combined with first class lodging and numerous tourist attractions, makes the East Cape a world class destination for the non-hunter on safari.

At John X Safaris we believe that each hunter has his/her own idea and dream of hunting Africa. It is for this reason that we offer our South African hunts on an exclusive daily rate basis, allowing each individual to tailor make their very own safari.

South Africa is a great destination for the first time hunter to Africa, but it offers so much more than that. For the second and third time hunter, it allows you time to hunt and explore the smallest of antelope in our forests, to our majestic plains and our breath taking mountains.

We invite to join us on the John X Safaris experience and be a part of the conservation success story that South Africa has achieved through hunters and their efforts.

What People Are Saying

"WOW! That’s all that comes to mind. An absolutely incredible hunt. I could not believe the abundance and diversity of game to hunt and observe. Every time I turned around Mike and Themba would point out a different animal or bird. I have no idea how Mike spots so many animals. Let alone
identify and judge trophy quality at 1000 yards! John X Safaris is a top notch operation and made me feel at home. The staff from one end to the other was accommodating. More importantly the smiles and laughs started at breakfast and lasted until the last man left the pub. What a great experience – Thanks!"

This was my first African experience and Carl and John X Safaris definitely did not disappoint. The quality of the hunt and the trophies were no less than phenomenal. I had to work for every animal and that made the hunt more worth it and enjoyable. This will definitely not be my last hunt with John X Safaris and Carl, as I already know what is on my list for the next hunt.

"Unbelievable! Another trip that Carl and the entire John X Safaris team made more special than the previous. I've been over hunting with my father, alone, and now with my son. Carl has gone above and beyond to make each trip more exciting than the previous. The people, lodging, food, and staff are second to none in the world. John X Safaris truly helps you find The Spirit of Africa! It goes beyond the hunt. It's a culture, a lifestyle, a way of life. John X Safaris helps find that special spot for me, each time being different, and does nothing but guarantees a return trip from this hunter. Each time I leave, I cannot wait to return to Lalibela. This trip was no different. My hats off to Carl and the entire John X Safaris team. I am truly honoured to belong to the John X Safaris family, and to be able to call so many of you my friends. Thank you!"
