Hunters by nature have a proud legacy of giving back to the passion they hold so dear. The very act of hunting is arguably the finest form of conservation in the world today. In saying this we recognize the necessity of not only giving back by creating a sustainable value for wildlife, but taking responsibility for the survival of this fine tradition we call hunting.
Through this necessity, on a bitterly cold Nebraska night in January 2009, the initial John X Foundation was born in one of our hunter’s trophy rooms. Our good friend, Chris Petersen, had been on numerous previous hunts with John X Safaris, and wanted to “give” something back to the communities and areas he’d enjoyed hunting from before.
Our approach was one where humanitarian initiative combined with education and sustainable wildlife projects would ensure the survival of hunting for generations to come. Through coordinated contributions by our hunters, John X Safaris has been able to spearhead both humanitarian and conservation causes on an annual basis.
Since then the John X Foundation has grown in leaps and bounds – a true testament to the proud hunters that join us on safari each year.
So what can you do to be a part of the John X Foundation?

"Rich tradition combined with world class staff – John X Safaris. I would like to thank John X Safaris and all the staff for a true once in a lifetime South African experience. Eight species in nine days! This was our first African Safari and John X Safaris and staff exceeded our expectations! We look forward to returning again and again."~ Chad & Jennifer Fraughton '13 from
This was my second safari to South Africa and it was very different from my first. The quality of game was outstanding but mostly what stands out from my first safari was how hard we worked for the animals we harvested. Aside from the outstanding hunting accommodations, food and overall hospitality was nothing short of excellent. I am excited to see the action on video. Thanks Carl and all his staff for making this such an awesome vacation.~ Glynn Underwood '15 from

"When I’m not in South Africa, I’m dreaming of being there. My 3rd trip with John X was epic for many reasons. This was the first time I had the pleasure of hunting with Carl. From the jump I knew this was going to be a hunt for the ages. We glassed high and bushwhacked low. The trophies I dreamed about were there, we just needed to find them. Persistence and proven shooting equipment was our recipe for success. I was able to take the Waterbuck I had envisaged since 2005 and it was up close and personal. From there we headed north and chasing free ranging Kudu in the Karoo was a life’s dream. As I think back to this latest journey with John X Safaris, I wonder how it could get better. I’m sure by my next visit the local professionals will have another challenge we will no doubt
conquer and again test our limits knowing we have shattered the ceiling of what was once thought impossible. Let’s do it again!"
