“There are some who can live without wild things and some who cannot.” - Aldo Leopold
While Africa is the land of abundance, there is always a need for wildlife conservation.
South Africa dubbed the “conservation story” of the 20th century, boasts a proud heritage of bringing threatened species back from the brink of extinction. Who could ignore or forget the dwindling Black Wildebeest, Cape Mountain Zebra, and the most famous of all, Rhino, just to mention a few. If it were not for sustainable value – not one of these species would be where they are today.
In saying this we must recognize and salute the pioneers of the South African wildlife story by picking up the torch and taking wildlife conservation to the next level. While it is important to maintain and ensure sustainability in what has been achieved to date, it is as important to grow. A mission of the John X Foundation is to take on new ventures and continue on the success story we’re so proud to be a part of in South Africa.
The John X Foundation will continue to forge ahead exploring uncharted territory, and dare to be different in South Africa and Mozambique. We actively encourage those hunters so inclined to become more involved in our conservation efforts. Many want to support the John X Foundation by making contributions to causes related to preserving species and furthering their expansion. In some cases there are even opportunities to volunteer for active participation in conservation events while on safari.

What People Are Saying
"Everything was great. Top three hunts ever. I will be back!"~ Martin Osthulm '13 from
Wow. I really cannot describe the gratitude I have for Carl and everybody at JXS. Each trip gets better & better. This time........I fly all the way to South Africa for ONE animal as a goal. Carl not only accepted my passion as his own, but worked as hard as any guide, anywhere in the world, could work. The salt shack stayed a little empty early in the trip, but the hard work & dedication produced something beyond a trophy of a lifetime. The friendship, memories, stories, blood, sweat & tears will last forever from this trip. Once again to my friends at JXS, you have guaranteed a return trip from this hunter. Thank you!~ Luther Dietrich '15 from
"When I’m not in South Africa, I’m dreaming of being there. My 3rd trip with John X was epic for many reasons. This was the first time I had the pleasure of hunting with Carl. From the jump I knew this was going to be a hunt for the ages. We glassed high and bushwhacked low. The trophies I dreamed about were there, we just needed to find them. Persistence and proven shooting equipment was our recipe for success. I was able to take the Waterbuck I had envisaged since 2005 and it was up close and personal. From there we headed north and chasing free ranging Kudu in the Karoo was a life’s dream. As I think back to this latest journey with John X Safaris, I wonder how it could get better. I’m sure by my next visit the local professionals will have another challenge we will no doubt
conquer and again test our limits knowing we have shattered the ceiling of what was once thought impossible. Let’s do it again!"
"I had a great hunt with outstanding accommodations. I took great trophies in both the coastal and Karoo areas. My PH, Mike Currie, did a great job locating and judging the animal. His stalking skills go unmatched. I will have lots of memories of this hunt."~ Dwight Moser '14 from
"WOW! That’s all that comes to mind. An absolutely incredible hunt. I could not believe the abundance and diversity of game to hunt and observe. Every time I turned around Mike and Themba would point out a different animal or bird. I have no idea how Mike spots so many animals. Let alone
identify and judge trophy quality at 1000 yards! John X Safaris is a top notch operation and made me feel at home. The staff from one end to the other was accommodating. More importantly the smiles and laughs started at breakfast and lasted until the last man left the pub. What a great experience – Thanks!"
"Great time! Great people! Good food! Beautiful scenery! Spectacular animals!"~ Steve & Karrie Bateman '12 from USA
