“There are some who can live without wild things and some who cannot.” - Aldo Leopold
While Africa is the land of abundance, there is always a need for wildlife conservation.
South Africa dubbed the “conservation story” of the 20th century, boasts a proud heritage of bringing threatened species back from the brink of extinction. Who could ignore or forget the dwindling Black Wildebeest, Cape Mountain Zebra, and the most famous of all, Rhino, just to mention a few. If it were not for sustainable value – not one of these species would be where they are today.
In saying this we must recognize and salute the pioneers of the South African wildlife story by picking up the torch and taking wildlife conservation to the next level. While it is important to maintain and ensure sustainability in what has been achieved to date, it is as important to grow. A mission of the John X Foundation is to take on new ventures and continue on the success story we’re so proud to be a part of in South Africa.
The John X Foundation will continue to forge ahead exploring uncharted territory, and dare to be different in South Africa and Mozambique. We actively encourage those hunters so inclined to become more involved in our conservation efforts. Many want to support the John X Foundation by making contributions to causes related to preserving species and furthering their expansion. In some cases there are even opportunities to volunteer for active participation in conservation events while on safari.

The 3rd time in Africa and it was probably the best. At Glen Harry, I harvested a beautiful Eland. I want to thank Carl and the rest of the staff, especially Stix. My friends and I had a fantastic stay.~ Benny Fredriksson '15 from

"In 2001 I went on a once in a lifetime trip with John X Safaris. In 2011 I completed my 6th trip with John X. Obviously I am a believer in the quality of the entire John X experience from the first class accommodations, to the outstanding food, exceptional service and even more importantly - to the quality hunting areas that produce the exceptional trophies I've come to expect. Trip number seven is being planned for 2012 - I simply can't get enough!"~ Brett Nelson '12 from USA

This being my 4th visit to Africa to hunt game, the ppppp being Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Namibia, I was amazed at the country and the game. My visit to South Africa has been epic, with many friendships & memories made. This trip will be fondly remembered! Carl & his camp staff were superb, the food amazing, the lodges spectacular. My PH Greg Hayes amazed me each day with his game knowledge, hunting professionalism & patience. I will always consider him a friend!~ Paul Valentine '15 from
Carl, unbelievable safari! This safari was to introduce my son to hunting Africa and share with my wife Haylee the beauty and splendor that is Africa and you did that in spades as expected. I wasn't sure how you could have topped my previous 2 safaris with you but you did. The 54" Kudu and monster Eland are ones for the ages! I have said it before and I will say it again: my friend you and your team at John X Safaris are simply the best. See you in Tanzania in 2017~ Steve Travis '15 from
