Kabubi-Kabubi!

November 07, 2017

Ten years have passed since last I visited Tanzania. We hunted the famous Selous Game Reserve on that particular safari, coming away with a host of great animals, most notably the biggest Cape Buffalo hunted in the Selous that year. After that initial hunt, things changed in Tanzania, with the dramatic up listing of rates […]Continue Reading

Cunningham and Smith Families on Safari in the East Cape….

October 13, 2017

We first met Sam Cunningham at the Dallas Safari Club Convention during January of 2014. Sam booked to join the Gunwerks crew on a hunt to John X Safaris that summer, where we got to know the man a bit better. Since then we have hosted Sam on four safaris spread across three different countries, […]Continue Reading

South Africa’s Musings…

September 21, 2017

By Cherise Ratliff In South Africa, I felt freedom from dates and times. That doesn’t happen very often. At least not in my life. Every day is a somewhat predictable juggle of school starting, and work starting, and meetings starting, and school ending, and work ending, and dinner cooking, and bedtime going. On our recent […]Continue Reading

What People Are Saying

"South Africa - I came, I saw, I heard, and felt you. You gave me goose bumps. I had the privilege to hunt with two great PH's. You took me out on those great plains and mountain sides. And gave me a hunt to be remembered for life! I really want to thank all I met during this journey - Staff, Trackers, PH's, Family members and friends. Thank You!"

"This was my first safari and it was more fun than what I had imagined. Every stalk and kill was better and better, I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Greg was a great PH, he taught me so much about everything from the plants, animals, hunting and South Africa's culture. I really enjoyed every part of my stay and am looking forward to visitng again. Thanks again, Robyn"

"Thank you all for a fantastic first hunting safari. It was a magic week, I will be back!"

~ Uno Kristiansson '13 from Sweden

"When I’m not in South Africa, I’m dreaming of being there. My 3rd trip with John X was epic for many reasons. This was the first time I had the pleasure of hunting with Carl. From the jump I knew this was going to be a hunt for the ages. We glassed high and bushwhacked low. The trophies I dreamed about were there, we just needed to find them. Persistence and proven shooting equipment was our recipe for success. I was able to take the Waterbuck I had envisaged since 2005 and it was up close and personal. From there we headed north and chasing free ranging Kudu in the Karoo was a life’s dream. As I think back to this latest journey with John X Safaris, I wonder how it could get better. I’m sure by my next visit the local professionals will have another challenge we will no doubt
conquer and again test our limits knowing we have shattered the ceiling of what was once thought impossible. Let’s do it again!"
